Things I've built, and where I've built them.

I'm an avionics engineer at Stratolaunch, with an electrical engineering degree from the University of Iowa. I like anything that needs a circuit board, from rocket flight computers to keyboards, and I take on freelance PCB design on the side. Away from the bench: video games, gardening, driving, learning Japanese, and keeping freshwater fish and shrimp.

  1. Stratolaunch

    Full-time

Avionics Engineer I on Talon-A, a reusable hypersonic test vehicle. Avionics design lead on a major vehicle rework, on the avionics console in mission control for 10+ flights, and runway recovery lead for 5+ recoveries.

  2. RGB LED matrix

    Project

A self-contained LED panel with the controller on the board. The 16×16 v0 prototype is built and running; v1 grows it to 32×32 at 4 mm pitch with 20 V USB-PD and a motion sensor for tilt-reactive animations.

  3. Freelance hardware engineer

    Freelance

A compact consumer wearable, under NDA. I designed the 6-layer PCBA from concept through multiple prototype revisions, shrank the first prototype by over 40% while keeping or improving all of its functionality, and built the symbols and footprints for parts that had none.

  8. The 2024 version of this site

    Project

A three.js Sun, Earth, and Moon as the homepage, with GSAP animation and a long fight with Parcel and Yarn.
